NAF Member Dr. George Tiller Murdered

NAF member Dr. George Tiller, an abortion provider in Wichita, KS was murdered this morning at his church.

"We are shocked and deeply saddened at what has happened today," said Vicki Saporta, President and CEO of the National Abortion Federation (NAF). "This is a devastating loss. Our thoughts right now are with his family and friends."

Throughout his career, anti-abortion extremists consistently targeted Tiller. His clinic has been vandalized, his staff and patients have been repeatedly harassed, and in 1993 Tiller was shot and injured by an anti-abortion extremist.

"It is abhorrent that once again, individuals who oppose the right to choose have used violence to try to advance their extreme anti-choice agenda," said Saporta.

The National Abortion Federation (NAF) is the professional association of abortion providers in the United States and Canada. Our mission is to ensure safe, legal, and accessible abortion care to promote health and justice for women.
