BANS ON PROCEDURES

Prohibiting doctors from providing abortions they believe to be safe and medically appropriate puts women's health at risk. To safeguard women's health, medical decisions must be made by doctors and not by politicians.

Women Affected by Bans on Safe Procedures

Tiffiny

My name is Tiffiny Benjamin, and first and foremost, I AM A MOTHER. I have 2 beautiful sons who are 6 and 3. I am also the mother of two souls who walk beside me and I am equally proud to be their mother. It is their story that sets me apart from other mothers and makes my voice unique in the argument regarding abortion. More

Claudia

in 1993, when I thought I had a perfect pregnancy, I made the decision along with my doctor not to have an amniocentesis. At 33, there seemed to be no need. Then one day, feeling anxious and worried about declining the test, I went to my doctor. More

Feature Story

Anonymous

I am a second-year law student and the father of a child who developed with anencephaly. My wife and I made the most difficult choice of our lives, to terminate the pregnancy.

I had always been a strong supporter of choice, but as a male I felt removed from the more human side of this issue. This summer has changed so much. We unfortunately live in Cincinnati, Ohio, a notoriously conservative and anti-choice city. I have become outraged by the lack of support or options for people in our situation.

We were fortunate to have a very compassionate and understanding doctor who was able to refer us to a fellow physician who, I believe, is the only physician in our region of the country to do late term terminations. I am very thankful for the courage of these two doctors. I have become painfully aware for the need to protect both the freedom we have and those who allow us to exercise it.
